The 2 armies meet & fight; the Confederates drive the Federals back thru town; the Federals set up their defense on Cemetery Ridge. More forces arrive thruout the night for both sides. Gen. Lee's plan is to send 12,000 men across a mile of open fields into the center of the Union line - Pickett's Charge. Altho the Union line is temporarily breached, the Confederates are driven back with 50% casualties. This video is a faithful retelling of Union officer Frank Aretas Haskell’s firsthand account of Pickett’s Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg. Haskell served as aide-de-camp to General John Gibbon and was positioned directly behind the Union center on Cemetery Ridge during the Confederate assault on July 3, 1863:
