About the Contest

On Monday, July 29, the Citizens for Brentwood Green Space (CBGS) debuted its new “Where’s Truman” contest for an 11 week duration.  The contest, designed to create awareness and support for CBGS' efforts to help the City of Brentwood acquire an additional 80 acres of land next to the new Marcella Vivrette Smith Park, features “Truman”, a local basset hound owned by resident Peggy Howell.

CBGS teamed up with the Brentwood Home Page to bring Brentwood one of the most unique and fun social media campaigns of the year. Truman loves our parks and he’s was on a mission to help us save green space before it gets developed.

The contest was open to legal residents of the City of Brentwood, Tennessee and featured weekly scenes of Truman in each of the City’s eleven active parks. Once the contest began, those wishing to participate would go to this web page to submit their guess for the particular week.  On Monday of each week we posted a new picture of Truman, with a clue; and you had until Friday of that week to guess what park he was visiting.  Participants had to visit this website each week to submit their guess for that week. For each of the eleven weeks of the contest duration, one winner was selected at random from those submitting correct responses for that week.  Each weekly winner received a prize donated from one of the following local businesses:  Corky’s Brentwood, Mère Bulles Restaurant, Noble Springs Dairy, and Puffy Muffin.  Those submitting correct responses for any of the eleven weeks will also have a chance to win the grand prize of an iPod Touch donated by ePlus.

Special thanks to photographer Angie Miller, who is also a city parks board member, for the series of photos.
