Financial Aid
The University of Fort Lauderdale (UFTL) is here to assist you achieve all that God has for you. UFTL participates in the U.S. Department of Education’s Title IV federal financial aid programs. UFTL students are eligible for grants, federally subsidized loans, educational loans, the federal work study program and institutional scholarships to assist you with paying for the cost of your education and help achieve your goals. Please fill out a Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) if you have not done so already at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Cost of Attendance
The cost to attend the University of Fort Lauderdale includes the direct costs of tuition, fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation costs, and personal expenses.
The cost differs by program and for the student who lives with his or her parents and for the student who lives independently. The cost of attendance for a student enrolled full-time is presented here.

FAFSA FILING
Please file your FAFSA today by visiting https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. To complete a FAFSA apply for a FSA ID at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch. This number is your electronic signature to your FAFSA. Our school code at UFTL is 041563.
When filing your FAFSA, you need the following:
- Your Social Security number (it’s important that you enter it correctly on the FAFSA form!)
- Your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student
- Your driver’s license number if you have one
- Your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen
- Federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information, for you (and your spouse, if you are married), and for your parents if you are a dependent student:
- IRS 1040
- Foreign tax return, IRS 1040NR, or IRS 1040NR-EZ
- Tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau
- Records of your untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans noneducation benefits, for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student
- Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate (but not including the home in which you live); and business and farm assets for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

Financial Aid News
There is a new repayment plan called the Income Based Repayment Plan (IBR) for federal education loans that base monthly payments on income, not debt. It is designed to make repaying loans easier for students who have careers in public service or Non-Profit organizations. This repayment plan can drastically reduce your payments and include loan forgiveness after 10 years. For more information contact your lender or financial aid office.
Eligibility
To be eligible for financial aid, the following items must be met. If you have any questions regarding any of the items listed below, please contact our Financial Aid Coordinator.
- Submit a FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov – School Code 041563)
- Demonstrate financial need (Cost of Attendance – Expected Family Contribution = Need)
- Have a High School -Diploma, GED, or pass the Ability to Benefit Test
- Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
- Have a Social Security number
- Register for Selective Service (males 18-25)
- Be enrolled in an eligible program
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Not be in default on a federal student loan
- Submit verification forms (if applicable)
Scholarship Opportunities
University of Fort Lauderdale offers other opportunities to help you pay for those costs associated with tuition, books, etc. Please read the information on each offer carefully, determine which scholarship is right for you and submit your application by the deadline.
