About the Mayfield Cemetery Restoration Project
New landowners petitioned the Williamson County Chancery Court to have the Mayfield Cemetery, 0.15 acres of a 3 acre parcel, terminated and the bodies moved to the back corner of the lot to build a house. Based on the suit, a single memorial would be placed with plants or fencing and the owner would care for the cemetery while the property was in their possession. The tombstones would not be moved and this is the third owner in less than 10 years. The suit was dropped for the termination of the cemetery and restoration of the cemetery soon began as the Mayfield Project. Kathie Greaves of the Brentwood Historical Commission oversaw the entire 2.5 year project.
